Our Accomplishments
Since our inception in 2000, we have done much to improve the
nursing situation in Illinois. Immediately, we built the foundation for our
coalition, then we began to put our mission into practice. For example, some of
our accomplishments include:
-
Developed a mission and vision statement, five standing committees, two task
forces, a logo and an organizational structure. Became incorporated, including
election of a Board of Directors and development of bylaws
-
Sent letters to the Editor of the Chicago Tribune after the Michael Behrens
series on nursing errors
-
Sent a letter to the Governor's Task Force on Patient Safety
-
Presented several programs for nurses in Illinois on retaining nurses and
creating a more positive work environment
-
Presented programs on best practices for nursing education
-
Presented a program on collaborative relationships
-
Gathered best practices for retention, and published them in a quarterly
retention newsletter
